The English ship 'Anne' of the White squadron had the wings of the angel figurehead removed to give her a more generic look. The Dutch 3rd Rate 'Groot Hollandia' had the angel figurehead removed completely and replaced with a lion from a sprue of Black Seas ships. - 271179538 2130558523762039 5246760933147048226 n

I removed the 'sunbursts' from the stern to get some more room for the freehand paintings. The painting of the stern of the Dutch ship 'Groot Hollandia' was based on its historical counterpart but the different configuration of the stern (the model represents a slightly later type of ship) made a one-on-one representation impossible. - 271162431 2130558210428737 8538108063816361871 n
I made ships cards for all the English and Dutch ships present at the Four Days' Battle of 1666. I tried to work the differences between Dutch and English ship design and armament into the cards despite the models being the same. The Dutch ship, though being roughly of the same size had fewer and lighter guns which shows in its broadside value and only the English ship keeping the 'Weight of Fire'.
