- Pre deployment
The Dutch deploy on the heals of the Spanish and start with one lone Corvette heading to the Raid objective.
Dutch get a lucky card of Superior Position and close on the Spanish. - deployment of ships
Deployment @ game start. Dutch start a hair outside of Cannon range on the Spanish fleet's heels. - Pre-game start
- Turn 1 Initiative Tie
The Dutch lure the Spanish firing line into the Shoals.
The event was Rough Seas which only affected the 5th Rate Frigate of the Spanish. - Turn 1
Turn 1. The lone Corvette tries unsuccessfully to make a Rake on the Spanish flagship. Ships close in on each other. The rear ship on the Spanish caught site of the Corvette sneak attack and managed to hit the flagship. - Shoals deployed
The Spanish flagship is forced to dodge the shoals and their formation falls apart. The rear Spanish ship again hits the flagship a couple of times. - Turn 2
Turn 2.The lone Corvette tries unsuccessfully …again… to make a Rake on the Spanish flagship.
The rear Spanish miss on their attack. The Dutch miss on small arms return fire - Turn 3
Turn 3. The Dutch command does a Rally but is pummeled for 3 Damaged from the nearest Frigate, the far frigate misses all shots, but forgoes a Fortune Token. The far Corvette manages to get a lucky Crit and score a hit on the 5th Rate. - Turn 4.
Turn 4. The lone Corvette takes 2 hits from the 5th Rate as they circle the island. The Dutch flagship gets pummeled again and is Crippled by Spanish guns. The Dutch Use “Board through the Smoke” to pour small arms fire on the Frigate and double board forcing the Spanish to surrender. Offering no quarter they burn the ship and send it to Davy Jones locker. - Turn 5
Turn 5. Maneuvering and shots trade on all fronts. Almost nothing of significance hits. - Turn 6 b
The Spanish 5th Rate waylays the Corvette that had dropped anchor and sent the landing Party ashore with 5 hits. The Corvette’s small arms fire is too inaccurate to inflict casualties… Fortune… Nope. still can’t beat High Freeboard and Fortitude 2. - Turn 6
Turn 6. The rear Spanish frigate is stuck between the shoal and facing the Wind’s Eye. It pours on all speed with a Seamanship to Windward hoping to put some distance between the pursuers and avoid being boarded. It fires muskets and misses 100% of its shots on the Dutch Flagship. Fortune token. Misses again. The Corvettes pepper the rear of the ship with small arms fire and Broadside. The “Resilient” initiative card saved the Spanish a good bit of damage. - Turn 7
Turn 7. The Spanish 5th Rate gunners again found their mark with 100% accuracy turning the Dutch Corvette into flotsam. - End Game
Despite its best efforts, the Spanish petite frigate was unable to escape the Dutch sharks chasing it. It turned to bring its guns to bear in a last-ditch shot, but their Fatgiue was too great and they barely scratched the lead Corvette at point-blank range. They were grappled by one Corvette and the victim of a “Boarders Away” landing party from the Dutch flagship. The results –a total slaughter with 11 Hits from the two boarding ships. The frigate was sent to the deep. The remaining 5th Rate turned tail and ran.
Dutch win.
