This is a playtest of the Adepticon “Seige of Nassau” Event In the dead of night, a half dozen pirate vessels quietly drift from the banks of Nassau. Flashes of light fill the sky and echoes of thunder suddenly roar from the hill behind them as the guns on the fortress walls announce a surprise attack. Charles Vane and his men refuse to roll over. The arrogant English will pay for their years of insolence and neglect. As the battle opens, the Fortress land two lucky hits on the 6th Rate (Rose). The English cut their anchors and try to get underway. Pirate ships stream from the banks of Nassua, a flaming French brigantine in their midst. The English continue to drop sails and try to get moving. Pirates split their ranks sending two sloops on a flanking maneuver while the rest attempt to escape the narrow bay. The English take some long-range shots, but they fail to make any hits in the chaos and confusion. The pirates throw up a white flag in Deception. The English are confused by the action as the Fort is still firing on them as are a few of the pirate vessels. Moments later, Woodes flagship signals to engage and ignore the pirate’s trickery. The bay is filled with cannon fire. Seeing the danger of the incoming fire ship the English 5th unloads a DEVASTATING 7-hit shot getting 3crits resulting in a +1 damage and a rigging crit. The pirates trigger another surprise attempting to lure the English formation into the shoals. Unfortunately, it fails to shake the English line. The fireship, it’s rigging in tatters and crippled from the onslaught attempts to limp toward the English line. The Rose manages to stop it, but is pummeled by the fort and subsequently boarded and scuttled. Things degrade into a brawl with ships trading shots at close ranges. A Pirate Corvette manages to board the Delicia and distract Rogers and his own support ships prevent him from being able to feel. Charles Vane's escape looked promising, but fate would not allow it. An unfortunate Event card turned the tides… The fickle Caribbean wind shifted and now blew straight into the bay leaving half the pirate fleet, including Vane’s Katherine in the Wind’s Eye. Unable to outrun the Milford (English 5th Rate) Vane and his sloop escort went for a boarding action. By the end of the fight, the Buck and Shark sloops both are taken out of action. The Delicia had obliterated two pirate corvettes. Two other sloops in ruins and his own ship Crippled … Vane was forced to surrender. His men led to the gallows.
