The final outcome in the last round. If the Hampshire had won the initiative and fired first, it likely would have suck Le Pelican. - PXL 20220713 023001050
yup... still burning from this angle. - PXL 20220713 022950542
The burning English fleet in the wake of the French flaghsip. - PXL 20220713 022946980
hehe... look at 'em burn. - PXL 20220713 022942849
Again both players use an Initiative 5 card and it comes down to the test won by the French. Cannons roar and the English flagship is Out of Action. French victory. - PXL 20220713 022144068
Ordering his men to shove off the ice with poles, the English by some twist of Fate manage to to Engage More Closely. The Hampshire cripples the Le Pelican and Le Pelican cripples the Hampshire. - PXL 20220713 015927555
Another rd of photos missing (I was checking the Ice rules and making notes for errata). in the unseen round, d’Iberville intentionally rams his ship into the unsinkable wreckage of the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay to slow his speed and keep a solid firing angle on the Hampshire. The Hampshire attempted to follow in the path the through the ice blazed by Le Pelican earlier. Perhaps the ice shifted in the wake but the Hampshire becomes lodged in the ice. In this round the Hampshire frees itself from the ice, but is still stuck in the wind's eye and can barely turn trying to regain sail. - PXL 20220713 015241342
Again Le Pelican presses windward through the ice trading fire with the Derring. Hampshire denied LOS. - PXL 20220713 013846675
Le Pelican begins to sail from the ice and turns to fire at the approaching Hampshire. - PXL 20220713 013450418

Again Le Pelican presses windward through the ice trading fire with the Derring. - PXL 20220713 012743367
Another tie on initiative. The burning wreckage of the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay shielding Le Pelican is surely a Good Omen. (I don't remember where this card fits in the order... I cropped several and the dates are all jacked. - PXL 20220713 012556747
Le Pelican continues to circle the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay trying to deny his enemy a firing position. He orders his crew through the ice flow. The ship creaks and groans but fortune was with the French and they managed to press through - PXL 20220713 011907568
Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville calls for more sail and pushes the French Vessel forward with all haste to get away from the Hampshire's guns, but is unsuccessful as the English gunners fire a rolling broadside and peppered Le Pelican's stern. A second rolling broadside of cannonfire from the Derring inflicted some rigging damage. The French answer and smash the Derring and damage it's rigging as well. - PXL 20220713 011146184
Le Pelican using the English ship for cover. - PXL 20220713 011134174
The weight of fire from the French guns at close range is too much for the English hull as Le Pelican finishes off the merchantman vessel. - PXL 20220713 011126366
Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville uses some fancy fleet maneuvering to close on the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay as it attempts to swing full around and let the rest of the fleet come about. The French maneuver places the crippled ship between Le Pelican and the rest of the English fleet denying the enemy line of sight. - PXL 20220713 010612187
The French use a Lee Gauge Fire card to cripple the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay - PXL 20220713 010011814
French gunnery at its finest. The HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay started with 1 Damage per the scenario, but was suddenly well on it's way to being Crippled. (pic is missing the initial damage, was added after realizing it the next round.) - PXL 20220713 010007703
First round long range shots are fired. The English inflict no damage. The French hit with an insane 8 of 9 rolls. - PXL 20220713 005040966
d'Iberville wins the a bonus Fortune Point on the very first round before the game begins. Surely Lady Luck is on our side! - PXL 20220713 004938971
Initial Deployment. The French deploy well downwind of the English. - End Game
Despite its best efforts, the Spanish petite frigate was unable to escape the Dutch sharks chasing it. It turned to bring its guns to bear in a last-ditch shot, but their Fatgiue was too great and they barely scratched the lead Corvette at point-blank range. They were grappled by one Corvette and the victim of a “Boarders Away” landing party from the Dutch flagship. The results –a total slaughter with 11 Hits from the two boarding ships. The frigate was sent to the deep. The remaining 5th Rate turned tail and ran.
Dutch win. - Turn 7
Turn 7. The Spanish 5th Rate gunners again found their mark with 100% accuracy turning the Dutch Corvette into flotsam.
