- Pre-game start
- Pre deployment
The Dutch deploy on the heals of the Spanish and start with one lone Corvette heading to the Raid objective.
Dutch get a lucky card of Superior Position and close on the Spanish. - PXL 20230203 183600271.PORTRAIT

- Shoals deployed
The Spanish flagship is forced to dodge the shoals and their formation falls apart. The rear Spanish ship again hits the flagship a couple of times. - deployment of ships
Deployment @ game start. Dutch start a hair outside of Cannon range on the Spanish fleet's heels. - PXL 20230203 192458788.PORTRAIT

- Turn 5
Turn 5. Maneuvering and shots trade on all fronts. Almost nothing of significance hits. - PXL 20230203 184738190.PORTRAIT

- Turn 6
Turn 6. The rear Spanish frigate is stuck between the shoal and facing the Wind’s Eye. It pours on all speed with a Seamanship to Windward hoping to put some distance between the pursuers and avoid being boarded. It fires muskets and misses 100% of its shots on the Dutch Flagship. Fortune token. Misses again. The Corvettes pepper the rear of the ship with small arms fire and Broadside. The “Resilient” initiative card saved the Spanish a good bit of damage. - PXL 20230203 183155785.PORTRAIT
- End Game
Despite its best efforts, the Spanish petite frigate was unable to escape the Dutch sharks chasing it. It turned to bring its guns to bear in a last-ditch shot, but their Fatgiue was too great and they barely scratched the lead Corvette at point-blank range. They were grappled by one Corvette and the victim of a “Boarders Away” landing party from the Dutch flagship. The results –a total slaughter with 11 Hits from the two boarding ships. The frigate was sent to the deep. The remaining 5th Rate turned tail and ran.
Dutch win. - Turn 1
Turn 1. The lone Corvette tries unsuccessfully to make a Rake on the Spanish flagship. Ships close in on each other. The rear ship on the Spanish caught site of the Corvette sneak attack and managed to hit the flagship. - Turn 7
Turn 7. The Spanish 5th Rate gunners again found their mark with 100% accuracy turning the Dutch Corvette into flotsam. - Turn 4.
Turn 4. The lone Corvette takes 2 hits from the 5th Rate as they circle the island. The Dutch flagship gets pummeled again and is Crippled by Spanish guns. The Dutch Use “Board through the Smoke” to pour small arms fire on the Frigate and double board forcing the Spanish to surrender. Offering no quarter they burn the ship and send it to Davy Jones locker. - PXL 20230203 184741409.PORTRAIT
- Turn 1 Initiative Tie
The Dutch lure the Spanish firing line into the Shoals.
The event was Rough Seas which only affected the 5th Rate Frigate of the Spanish. - 20220915 205514
- Turn 2
Turn 2.The lone Corvette tries unsuccessfully …again… to make a Rake on the Spanish flagship.
The rear Spanish miss on their attack. The Dutch miss on small arms return fire - PXL 20230203 191519724.PORTRAIT
- Turn 6 b
The Spanish 5th Rate waylays the Corvette that had dropped anchor and sent the landing Party ashore with 5 hits. The Corvette’s small arms fire is too inaccurate to inflict casualties… Fortune… Nope. still can’t beat High Freeboard and Fortitude 2. - PXL 20220713 022946980
hehe... look at 'em burn. - PXL 20220713 022942849
Again both players use an Initiative 5 card and it comes down to the test won by the French. Cannons roar and the English flagship is Out of Action. French victory. - PXL 20230203 180430099.PORTRAIT

Another rd of photos missing (I was checking the Ice rules and making notes for errata). in the unseen round, d’Iberville intentionally rams his ship into the unsinkable wreckage of the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay to slow his speed and keep a solid firing angle on the Hampshire. The Hampshire attempted to follow in the path the through the ice blazed by Le Pelican earlier. Perhaps the ice shifted in the wake but the Hampshire becomes lodged in the ice. In this round the Hampshire frees itself from the ice, but is still stuck in the wind's eye and can barely turn trying to regain sail. - PXL 20220713 015241342
Again Le Pelican presses windward through the ice trading fire with the Derring. Hampshire denied LOS. - Turn 3
Turn 3. The Dutch command does a Rally but is pummeled for 3 Damaged from the nearest Frigate, the far frigate misses all shots, but forgoes a Fortune Token. The far Corvette manages to get a lucky Crit and score a hit on the 5th Rate. - PXL 20220713 012556747
Le Pelican continues to circle the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay trying to deny his enemy a firing position. He orders his crew through the ice flow. The ship creaks and groans but fortune was with the French and they managed to press through - PXL 20220713 012743367
Another tie on initiative. The burning wreckage of the HBC Royal Hudson’s Bay shielding Le Pelican is surely a Good Omen. (I don't remember where this card fits in the order... I cropped several and the dates are all jacked. - PXL 20220713 023001050
yup... still burning from this angle. - PXL 20220713 022144068
Ordering his men to shove off the ice with poles, the English by some twist of Fate manage to to Engage More Closely. The Hampshire cripples the Le Pelican and Le Pelican cripples the Hampshire. - PXL 20220713 004938971
Initial Deployment. The French deploy well downwind of the English.
